A True Racing Legend
The Most Intimidating Force On The Track
Any one that has seen Dale race knows that he is out there to win the race. In earlier years, it meant trying some rather unusual "stunts", if you will. Most of us remember the famous "pass on the grass". That hasn't been too long ago, but it still goes to show what a competitor he was. It seemed that in this final race (weird to say final race) that he was more interested in preserverving 1st and 2nd for Michael and for his son, Dale JR. It was a thrilling race, but the end did not seem as full of happiness as it should have been. But Dale would have liked the outcome (or portions of it).

In the weeks after the accident, TEAM DEI has been on a roll with the winning and good showings. I'm sure that Dale is keeping a check on things and is as proud as can be.

It's been over one month since Dale's accident and the wounds are slowly healing. It's a credit to all of his supporters and fans who have helped each other throught this difficult time. The hard times are far from over, but with help and support of everybody, we can get through this. Dale's family still needs our thoughts and prayers. I have been to many of the web pages that have been created in honor and tribute of Dale, and I know he would be shocked. Shocked that so many people would take their time to do something like that for him. It is almost therapeutic to write out your thoughts on a page such as this. It helps to get others views and to let other people know your thoughts, also.

I hope that Team DEI continues to make good showings in all future races. I know it's hard for them to be out there without Dale, but he would want them to forge ahead and do what needs to be done. I have the utmost respect for Dale, Jr. because he continues to go out there week after week knowing that this sport took his father. He will always be looking out for his family and his "family"

People from all walks of life and from many different places have expressed that sentiment on the dealth of Dale Earnhardt in various ways. Many have written FANTASTIC poems, short tributes and some have put together some fantastic Earnhardt artwork and music. Others have went all out and created special web pages for all people to "see" Dale's impact on peoples' lives and the impact of his death. More power to them and all of the thanks in the world for keeping all of the fans together.

Small Talk
I have heard talk that Dale should not have been trying to keep the other cars from getting by him. I think that's just wrong. That's a part of racing. It's called strategy. I can recall many, many other races in which other teams or teamates helped each other out in just such a way as Dale did (or was doing). They didn't turn out this way, so not much was ever said of it. It just bothers me when people judge things when they don't know the whole story. Now I'm not saying that I know for sure what was going on because I don't. I wasn't there, but I've got two eyes and I have my opinions. I don't want to comment any way on something that I'm not sure of, but I can give my opinion.

Several people have echoed my thoughts on this incident. I'm not saying that we are right; it just seems that many people have the same idea. Even with all of the thoughts and such, nothing can change what happened.

Racing is still going strong, but there is an empty place in it that will never be filled. An empty spot can be filled with another person, but no matter how good that person is, it's just never the same. We all need to forge ahead and give all of our support to the rest of the team because they are doing what they need to do.

Drivers from all walks of life have looked to Dale. Maybe not for advice or approval, but for something that only he could give. Whatever that was, it will be missed by all.

Dale Jr will start in 10th position this Sunday the 8th in the race. He has showed us that he has the same force that his dad had in racing. He just goes ahead with the job at hand. I know it is tough, but he can handle it. After all, he is an Earnhardt.
