LAST KISS
If I had known today would be the last day of your life,
Would I have said something perhaps more profound?
Maybe I would have kissed you a little longer,
Maybe I would have held you a little tighter,
Just to feel your heart beat,
Just to hear the sound. (Teresa)

If I had known today would be the last day of your life,
Would I have said "Dad, I love you more than anything in this world?"
Would I have recollected with you before the race
All the good times we had?
Talk about racing,
Talk about dreams,
Talk about girls? (Dale Jr.)

If I had known today would be the last day of your life,
Would I have said "You're the best friend anyone could ask for?"
Would we have laughed about the times you nudged me out of the way?
Would we cry about the guys that went on before us?
Would I have talked with you a little longer and said a little more? (Co-Racers and Friends)

If I had known today would be the last day of your life,
Would I have cheered a little louder, screamed a little harder?
Would I have said a longer prayer for you?
Would I have tried my best to be able to know you?
Would I have went just a little bit farther? (Fans)

If I had known today would be the last day of your life,
Would I have said some of the things that I did? No, I wouldn't have.
I would have understood that you were a racer.
That is your job to be aggressive, and to be a winner.
I would have known there was a side of you that you hid. (A Non-Fan)

But it was the last day, and now it's too late,
To say that you're a champion,
to tell you that you were Great.
So I'll just say a real long prayer,
that you're happy with your friends in the sky.
And I'll give thanks to God above that he loaned us a very special guy. (Just Me)

"The Man...The Legend...That Grin"
Written by: Jay Mooneyham Jr. Waynesboro Va

We all looked forward to the first race of the year,
little did we know that it would end in tears.
As in years before you car would roll and crash,
but amongst the smoke and rubble you would soon dash.

On that day God had special plans for you,
even though he knew we would be left feeling blue.
In the twinkle of an eye,
God took you away in to the sky.
We know that you will be looking down,
and that you would be sad to see us frown.

Instead of leading the field and setting the pace,
you stayed back and blocked with style and with grace.
In hope that Jr. or Michael would finish in first place,
leaving behind that grin on your face.

They called you the Intimidator for the way you drove your car,
but on that certain day you went alittle to far.
You got caught up in a wreck in the middle of the pack,
then it dawned on us that you will never come back.

On Sunday you did your best to lead the race,
and we knew that you would have that grin upon your face.
You never had a chance to say goodbye at all,
but we know forever that you are standing tall.

It all started when you were only a kid,
you excelled at everything that you did.

You left behind some amazing stats,
making everyone wish they could do just that.
I will say goodbye for now,
and do my best not to frown.

You did what you loved, and loved what you did!
